Ingredients

  • 12 ounces chicken sausage links fully cooked or raw; read package label
  • 1 medium bell pepper sliced into 1/2-inch strips
  • 1/2 medium red onion sliced into wedges
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 pinch kosher salt optional; sausage is already seasoned

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Instant-read thermometer
  • Tongs
  • Mixing bowl

Method

  1. Confirm whether the links are raw or fully cooked. Keep raw links separate from ready-to-eat ingredients and utensils.
  2. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F for 3 minutes.
  3. Toss pepper and onion with oil, Italian seasoning and pepper. Air fry for 4 minutes.
  4. Place links over or beside the vegetables without piercing the casings.
  5. Cook fully cooked links 7 to 9 minutes more, or raw links 10 to 13 minutes more, turning once.
  6. For raw chicken sausage, verify 165°F in the center. Rest 3 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • Read relevant ingredient labels and the manual for any appliance used.
  • Begin checking at the early end of the time range.
  • Raw chicken sausage is poultry and should reach 165°F; the package label determines whether a link is raw or already cooked.
