Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup milk of choice plus more as needed
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt preferably 2% or whole-milk
  • 1 medium ripe banana sliced
  • 2 cups frozen unsweetened strawberries
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup to taste
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice optional
  • 1 pinch kosher salt optional

Equipment

  • Countertop blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Flexible spatula
  • Two glasses

Method

  1. Pour milk into the blender, then add Greek yogurt. Follow the manufacturer's loading order for an inverted personal blender.
  2. Add banana, 1 tablespoon honey, vanilla, optional lemon and salt. Place frozen strawberries on top without packing them down.
  3. Blend on low for 10 to 15 seconds, then on high for 45 to 60 seconds, until a stable vortex forms and the mixture is completely smooth.
  4. If the blender stalls, stop it and add milk 1 tablespoon at a time. Scrape safely and restart on low.
  5. Add honey for sweetness, lemon for brightness or yogurt for tang. Blend 10 to 15 seconds after any adjustment.
  6. Divide between two chilled glasses and serve immediately for the creamiest texture.

Notes

  • Load milk near the blades and frozen strawberries last.
  • Use a ripe banana and 2% or whole-milk Greek yogurt for the roundest flavor.
  • Add extra milk only 1 tablespoon at a time.
  • Taste before adding the second tablespoon of sweetener.
